When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

New found respect [Oct. 16th, 2005|11:01 pm]
[mood |tiredtired]

Well it is day two of watching Shana and I am learning respect for single parents everywhere. k had to go to New York to lend moral support to her dad after her uncle passed Wed evening. She is flying back to Dallas tomorrow night and then driving to Austin. I am so tired. Just watching the kid saps me. Maybe it is partly because it is the first time that I have had to do it.
Now if I can get up at 3:30 to drive to Austin!

Now for something completly diffrent [Oct. 12th, 2005|02:59 pm]
The Emperor Card
You are the Emperor card. The Emperor leads the way
into the world that The Empress allowed us to
experience. He is the archetype of the Father
who provides the organization and structure of
the world. The Emperor is the government, and
as such represents control. At this stage in
The Fool's Journey, there is no need to deviate
from the status quo. By participating actively
in society, we come to an understanding of
social structure. The Emperor applies the laws
and rules for us to follow. The Emperor is the
first of the zodiacal attributions in the major
arcana. He shares with Aries a creative energy
and, at his best, responsibility for the
subjects in his charge. At his worst he can
become domineering and authoritarian. Image

Time to bend over again! [Oct. 12th, 2005|02:45 pm]
[mood |frustratedfrustrated]

This administration has become a real pain in our ass. Now they want to take away the OSB(Organics Standards Board), which is, by the way, a branch of the USDA, and put it fully into the hands of the USDA BS-ocrats. I thought that organic standards were a great idea when they were conceived. It was a board of interested hands-on "organic" people who wanted to see organics grow into more than it was. Unless we act to stop Congress the OSB will be no more and fall into the hands of the USDA who think it is a good idea to allow GMO's to be classified as "Organic".

Cronyism is getting to the point where it is not just amoral but dangerous. "Hey you're my bud; why don't you go run FEMA" has become the platform on which politicians run for office now. Appointees no longer need to explain where they stand to be a Supreme court justice: they just have to be of the same extremist ilk of whomever happens to be president.

I implore you all to think of what our country has become in the next elections. Do not just vote for the guy who stands the most apart from our current leaders. We need morally strong people of conviction who will make the hard choices: not to achive some self-centered agenda, but to do what is right for our country and for the world as whole.

There is much to be said for a moderate and sober voice. Extremism has gotten our country into a lot of trouble. It is not necessary to be on the extreme right or left to change this. A moderate voice of reason that the world can respect is the sane choice. With moderate leaders, we can be a friend to our world and not be taken advantage of. We can have freedom without political strife. We may lose this if we continue to chose leaders that bounce back and forth between the extremes of the politcal poles.

New Orleans is a perfect microcosm of what is going on today in our country. The ineptitude of the government and agency heads who were supposed to be protecting this community from one of the worst natural disasters it has ever faced instead have allowed the situation devolve into the Police looting and beating citizens, FEMA buying 125,000 mobile homes that no wants set up near them, the National Guard struggling to get the resources they need to keep the place from flooding again, and more finger pointing than you can shake a stick at.

What has happened to personal responsibility? What has happened to taking pride in your job and trying to live up to public trust? We have too long asked for new freedoms without living up to our own civic, moral, and personal resposibilities. Make a difference in your next election by telling your current leaders that status quo will no longer suffice. This is a government of the people and I am afraid that this is what is represented by our current leadership.

My Job sux [Sep. 22nd, 2005|10:28 pm]
Most times I really love my job but after having to drive 55 miles each way it gets a little old. Then this week things are not progressing quickly enough so I had to work till midnight tuesday night and now here I am again still working at 10:30 and no end in site. I miss K. I am really glad that I have friends here that I could have dinner with last night. Hi friends. ;P I think I am going to have to move to Austin if I am ever going to get to see my wife. Or I should say she is going to have to move to Austin.

I would really like to go to ACL this weekend. I have always loved the show and it seems like such a waste to be here and not go. But I know if I hurry and get my work done that I will be able to go home that much sooner. Hope traffic is not horrible on the way back to Dallas.

Oh yea we are starting to redo the house this weekend. Crew coming on Saturday to rip out all of that ugly old tile and put in new slate floors and granite counters too if I don't run out of money. Then if I could just get the painter to finish...oh wait that is me. :D Maybe the house will be finished by the holidays.

Is it still an underwear quiz if your not wearing any? [Sep. 20th, 2005|04:47 pm]
I had to do this after seeing it on thenakedredhead 's blog. And I disagree with some of the findings we are both well trimmed. :P

What Your Underwear Says About You

You're a total rebel who doesn't conform to any rules. P.S. - It's a jungle down there!

You're also way too lazy to do your laundry more than a few times a year.
